As I've made a boys picture (the original one I made for my eldest son), I thought I should try one for a girl. I didn't want to make one in pastel colours, instead I have chosen colours that I think my nieces (and their mummy's) would like. Again I started by making a background, having a set of colours in mind. I rummage through my scraps box and find some lovely printed fabrics that I want to include.
When I sat down to start this I kept thinking of the nursery rhyme 'Sugar and spice and all things nice, that's what little girls are made of'. I think this came into my mind because I kept questionning what to do, so I decided to use these words...
I don't know many little (or big) girls who don't like a heart or two, but I purposely made these A-symmetrical and offkey. I didn't go with baby pink, as I felt it would be too contrived.
The photo looks a bit darker than it is in real life, but I found if I brightened it I lost some of the colour, despite using the contrast levels to try to even it out.
I think if I had a little girl, this is just the kind of picture I would want in her room! but maybe I'm a bit biased.
